Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
I made it home safe and sound tonight. I'm so lucky to have had my friends Matt, Tim & Howie along with me. Seriously, I really am not sure how the whole trip would have turned out had you not been there for me.

I didn't get the job, but I sure did have fun trying for it. I'll need a little while to compose my thoughts, but you'll be sure to hear from me with all the details soon. Congratulations to Nathan, Kristi and Aaron. I'm quite fortunate to have been surrounded by such talented and fun people during the competition. I will have fond memories of all the contestants and will smile many times as I think of them in the future.

I'll try to post pics of all the final creations from all the contestants on my website within a few days.

Thank you again to everyone for their encouragement and enthusiasm. I hope to see many of you over the coming weeks.

It was interesting reading your journal throughout this experience of yours..I hope you don't mind me adding you to my friends list, but I have a habit of "collecting" interesting people.

Hugs, sorry you didn't get the position. They are missing out on a great employee. But then again we can all be selfish and say that at least you are not moving away now. ;-)

Bummer, but I'm glad that you got some good memories out of it. I'm sure it was an experience of a lifetime.

Maybe one day lego will wake up and find out that the memories they give people are better than the opportunities. I am not going to tell you I am sorry that you didn't get the job. I am going to, however, congradulate you on getting as far as you did. I am sure not many people got the opportunity to experience the things you will never forget. So Congrats :)

Hey buddy! I'm sorry you didn't get the job :( I'm glad though that you were able to make it as far as you did, and that you had a great time getting there. From a purely selfish point of view, I'm glad you'll be staying local for a while. The south end historian can't leave damn it!

That totally sucks. I'm one of those slashdotters who was stalking you. Wow. And they didn't offer you a job or did they? Will you let us know? We are all in anticipation. But that was an experience of a lifetime. Sorry you didn't get the jon. WOW.

Sounds like the competition was quite tough.
It must have been a great experience for you - it's sad you did not get the job.

Good luck for future endeavours, similar or different.

/.'er too.

Man, that is a crappy bummer.

I have to hand it to you... what a super exciting ride. Well, did the winners actually accept the jobs? Mabye something will still come up. Mabye a stranger with legoland influence will turn the tide in your favor.

Let us know what you made, and looking forward to the pics.

Just saw the Wired article on the competition, and all I could think was "I hope the guy on LJ got it!" Sigh. Hey, there's always next time, right?

Life experiences are defined by what we take away from them. You may not have been chosen as a lego master builder, but you made it much further chasing your dream than most people do. Once the initial let down wears off I'm sure you will realize this. You push the envelope and went balls to the wall. In most books that makes you a winner. Too many people sit back and then wonder what if on so many events in their lives. You took the bull by the horns. You are an inspiration to everyone who hears your story. You weren't afraid to dream and you have one hell of a tale to tell because of it. Keep building and keep dreaming.

another /. poster...

sad to hear that you didn't get the job, it seemed you were well suited to it.

They mentioned that roles other than Master Builder might be available to you right(?)... is anything happening on that front?

Good luck in getting something that is, if not quite your dream job, at least close.

I've been on LJ for quite a while now, and when I noticed the /. link to your journal I was very interested. When I saw the news that they had announced the winners, I checked here first to see if you made it.

Congratulations on making it as far as you did. It's so cool that you can look back on this as part of your five minutes of fame. Remember, when one door closes, another one will open.

Good luck to you in the future,

A.C.
